Wisdom is too lofty for a fool;
He does not open his mouth in the gate. ( Proverbs 24:7)
In an attempt to turn men away from folly, Solomon taught the traits of fools that must be avoided by the wise. Fools are the followers of folly. Being committed to this way of life leaves them virtually incapable of wisdom. This fateful frame of mind develops the terrible traits that set them on the path of self-destruction. Fools exhibit the traits of boastfulness, complacency, perversity, and wickedness. They clamor, chatter, and slander. They are spiteful, destructive, dishonorable, hostile, ignorant, treacherous and vicious, hasty and impulsive. They are careless, self-righteous and quarrelsome. They are unstable, unreliable, unbearable, unreasonable, unrestrained, and untruthful. They cannot discern and cannot be corrected or taught. Such traits are an abomination to God and a disgrace to man. Wise men flee far from them.
