AN EXCELLENT WIFE IS THE CROWN OF HER HUSBAND
He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
and obtains favor from the Lord ( Proverbs 18:22)
Marriage was established by God and is blessed when founded on righteousness and morality. Although Solomon had many wives, his book, the Song of Solomon, reveals that he knew true marital happiness; and his father David, taught him the dangers of infidelity. Solomon explained that an excellent wife is a gift of great value from God. She brings honor to her husband; she is industrious, talented, attractive, confident, chaste, and worthy of praise or reward. But a foolish wife is a curse; her immorality, hatefulness, contention, destructiveness, and indiscretion bring shame and dishonor.
Marital fidelity should be preserved. Men must escape the enticements of immorality that deceive the simple and bring shame and destruction to its captives. Its paths lead to unfaithfulness, poverty, revenge, ruin, remorse, and death. Wise men avoid such perilous paths and build good marriages on the righteous principles of love and fidelity.
